When I was in college, I lived at home with my parents and commuted to school. At some point during all of that, my parents divorced. My mom found a two bedroom apartment and told me I was welcome to sleep on the couch until I could find a place to stay. And there was no way in hell I was going to live with my dad. I'd rather live in a car.

I was talking (whining) to my then-boyfriend (now my hubby) about what I was going to do. I had no clue. He piped up, "just come live here". (He was doing the same thing at the time - living at home and commuting to college. His parents wouldn't let him live in the dorms after he failed most of a semester.)

He talked to his parents about it. I talked to his parents about it. I got to move into the spare bedroom. (Separate floor on the opposite end of the house as then-boyfriend, lol.)

I lived there for 5 months while I quit school, got a full-time job and then I got an apartment of my own. I actually enjoyed living with them. I really got to know them much better and we all got along very well, so it was a nice thing. Weird, but nice. ;)
