I just saw that Bush's Budget cuts the WIC program among other things.
Let's talk about WIC. Women, Infants and Children Program. This program provides nutrition education and food to low income families with young children and pregnant mothers. Let's go ahead and say YES people should probably not have children until they can afford them but it isn't the way it is.
My daughter gets WIC and she got it while she was pregnant. She and her husband are low income --like each of them make less than 14,000 a year. While she was pregnant WIC provided her with milk, cheese, Juice, cereal, beans and eggs. All things that would help her stay healthy while she is pregnant. WIC also provided her with information on how to stretch her food budget.
My daughter received WIC for 6 months after granddaughter was born to help rebuild her body. Had she been able to breast feed that would have been a year.
My grandaughter receives 31 cans of formula a month along with cereal and juice.
In addition, WIC evaluates granddaughter regularly to make sure she is growing. They also made my daughter go to classes on health care for granddaughter, baby nutrition, dental care, etc.
If you go back and reread what I have said you will note that what WIC does is help keep our most vulnerable citizens healthy. It's a proactive program rather than reactive. Instead of getting a child AFTER it is malnourished and their health compromised they help prevent those things from happening.
So in my view that program saves us money in the longrun by reducing the need for medical treatment after-the-fact, keeping a child's brain healthy so that they can grow and learn and not have to utilize special education.. the list goes on and on. PLUS YOU CAN GO TO BED AT NIGHT AND KNOW THESE BABIES DON"T GO TO BED HUNGRY.
WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU BUSHITES, YOU MEAN-SPIRITED NASTY PEOPLE. I REALLY DON'T KNOW HOW YOU LIVE WITH WHAT YOUR VOTE HAS DONE.
